Is the special medical study of  the disorders of the nervous systems. The following surgical specialty that does surgery on the nervous system is called NEUROSURGERY.

Neurological diseases are disorders of the brain, spinal cord and nerves throughout your body. Together they control all the actions of the body. When something goes wrong with a part of your nervous system, you can have trouble moving, speaking, swallowing, breathing or learning. You may also face problems with your memory, senses or mood.

There are more than 600 neurologic diseases. Major types include;

Diseases caused by faulty genes:

  • Hungtington's Disease;
 "Huntington's disease (HD) is an inherited disease that causes certain nerve cells in the brain to waste away."
  • Muscular Dystrophy;
 "Muscle weakness and muscle loss"

Problems with the way nervous systems developed:

  • Spina Bifida;
" A type of birth defect of the brain, spine, or spinal cord."

Diseases where nerve calls are damaged or dead:

  • Degenerative Disease;
 "Degenerative nerve diseases affect many of your body's activities, such as balance, movement, talking, breathing, and heart function."
  • Parkinson's Disease;
"Parkinson's disease (PD) is a type of movement disorder"
  • Alzheimer's disease;
 "Alzheimer's disease (AD) is the most common form of dementia among older people. Dementia is a brain disorder that seriously affects a person's ability to carry out daily activities."

Injuries:

  • Spinal Cord;
"A spinal cord injury disrupts the signals."
  • Brain;
 "Traumatic brain injury happens when a bump, blow, jolt, or other head injury causes damage to the brain. "

Seizure Disorders:

  • Epilepsy;
Epilepsy is a brain disorder that causes people to have recurring seizures"

Brain Cancer:

  • Brain Tumors;
"Cancer of the brain is usually called a brain tumor"

Infections:

  • Meningtis;
"inflammation of the thin tissue that surrounds the brain and spinal cord, called the meninges."
  • Encephalitis;
 "inflammation of the brain," but it usually refers to brain inflammation caused by a virus.

Alcohol Related Diseases and it's effects

There are even alcohol-related neurological diseases. These diseases have a wide range of effects, solely by consuming alcohol. Alcohol can be harmful if over-consumed and thus it will lead to a negative effect on the nerves and muscles cells.

Consequences of overdose of alcohol;
  1. Memory Loss
  2. Seizures
  3. Blackouts
  4. Incoordination
  5. Dehydration
  6. Sometimes death

( will cause irreversible damage)

  1. Damage the nervous system
  2. Cause Other organs to malfunction
  3. Alter levels of nutrients in the body; includes; (vitamin B1), folate (vitamin B9), and vitamins B6 and B12. These are needed for proper nerve function. A poor diet can make problems even worse.

Alcohol-related neurologic disease includes the following conditions:

  •  Wernicke-Korsakoff syndrome (Wernicke’s encephalopathy and Korsakoff psychosis)
  • alcoholic neuropathy
  • alcoholic cerebellar degeneration
  • alcoholic myopathy
  • fetal alcohol syndrome
  • alcohol withdrawal syndrome
  •  dementia and other cognitive deficits

Women are more susceptible to many of the negative consequences of alcohol use, like nerve damage, when compared to men.

Moderate drinking is probably safe for most people. The best way to prevent these diseases is to avoid alcohol.
